  • MU Health Care announced that patients who receive care at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals and at members of the Tiger Institute Health Alliance Health Information Exchange (HIE) now can benefit from streamlined information sharing across organizations. The Tiger Institute Health Alliance HIE is a member of the Sequoia Project eHealth Exchange. The exchange enables physicians at different organizations to electronically share and use up-to-date patient medical records. Because the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, including Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital, also is a member of the Sequoia Project eHealth Exchange, information now can be securely shared between the organizations.
  • University of Missouri campus and Columbia community members are invited to join Lalah Hathaway and more for an evening of soulful music and spoken word at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, in Jesse Auditorium. Hosted by the Division of Inclusion, Diversity & Equity, this event will feature artists with over 30 years experience in the entertainment industry. Lalah Hathaway, Joshua Bennett, Alysia Harris and Shaun Munday will share the spotlight for this inaugural event. Tickets are FREE for students, $10.50 for general admission.   • The Boone County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is hosting a 5K walk/run on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Stephens Lake Park. The purpose of this event is to promote community awareness of crime victims’ rights and services during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which runs from April 8, 2018 through April 14, 2018. Participation in the event is free and the first 300 participants will receive a free t-shirt.   • The Central Bank of Boone County Lobby Gallery, located inside the Downtown Bank at 8th and Broadway, features the works of Kate Gray through Thursday, April 26, 2018. The Lobby Gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Kate Gray is an associate professor of strategic communication design at Stephens College. She has more than 30 years of professional experience in all areas of the communication and design field. Gray will host a reception at the Downtown Bank on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 5:30-7 p.m.

  • Central Bank of Boone County introduces The Art of Adulting. The Art of Adulting is a rapid learning opportunity for millennials on important “adult” topics not taught in school. The rapid learning approach allows millennials to learn valuable information in the time it takes finish a drink. Join us for food and drinks while we discuss Steps to Buying a Home, what to know before searching for a home and what to expect during the process of buying a home. The Art of Adulting fast class will take place at COMO Growlers & Pints on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., fast class begins at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are required, visit the Central Bank of Boone County Facebook event page (www.facebook.com/BooneBank/ events) to reserve your free spot. All participants 21 and older will receive a drink ticket and food.


  • Following a nationwide search, Mike Blair, CPA, CMA, has been selected chief financial officer of University of Missouri Health Care, effective May 1. Blair will lead the development, implementation and monitoring of all policies and practices concerning financial administration for MU Health Care. He will oversee budgets, financial planning, general accounting, patient accounting services and government reimbursement and reporting. Blair is joining MU from University of Minnesota Health – Fairview, where he has served as vice president of finance since 2014.
  • After a national search, Jennifer May, JD, has been selected as the chief compliance officer for University of Missouri Health Care, effective March 1. In this role, May is responsible for leading the strategies, operations, monitoring and reporting of MU Health’s corporate compliance plan. Prior to this appointment, May served as acting chief compliance officer and director of compliance effectiveness. Before joining MU Health, she served as a leader in the MU Office of Research, Graduate Studies and Economic Development. May began her compliance career with the MU Intercollegiate Athletics Department, where she was responsible for NCAA rules compliance.
  • Central Bank of Boone County announces five employee promotions made in February. Megan Taylor of the Keene Bank has been promoted to Financial Associate. Financial associates not only act as customer service representatives who assist customers with all aspects of daily banking, from opening accounts and making deposits to applying for loans, but also can act as a teller when needed. Tom Farrar of the Downtown Bank has been promoted to assistant manager of Credit Administration. Credit Administration assistant managers assist with daily and long-term operations of the department, including day-to-day decisions, staffing adjustment, communicating procedural changes and maintaining full knowledge of the lending process and regulations. Seth Maberry of the Rockbridge Bank, Rustin Crocker of the Centralia Bank and Gary DeLamatre of the South County Bank have been promoted to teller II. Employees are hired as a teller I then, once they’ve completed their training and have had six months of successful experience, they are promoted to a teller II.
