Chamber Heading to Fort Collins, CO

Chamber Leading Delegation to Fort Collins, CO this Week for Leadership Visit 2016

Watch for blog and email updates from the Chamber from October 4-6 regarding Leadership Visit 2016. During this time, the Chamber will lead a delegation of 58 leaders from a cross-section of Columbia/Boone County’s business, civic, education, and nonprofit sectors to Fort Collins, CO for our third annual trip. We will share key points on what the group is hearing and learning throughout the trip. Also be sure to join us at the January Quarterly Membership Breakfast when we share highlights.

Topics being covered on the 2016 Leadership Visit include downtown planning, zoning, and parking; quality of life and relation to workforce recruitment and retention; city partnerships and relationship with the university and private sector; local legislative issues and emerging topics; highway funding; city transit planning; and university technology transfer, innovation, and economic impact. Breakout lunches will also allow participants to have roundtable dialogue regarding trends and the state of: the real estate market, arts & culture, policing & crime, and education.

The annual Leadership Visit trip provides an opportunity for interaction among business and civic leaders and facilitates exchange of best practices and lessons learned, while offering high-level networking opportunities. Our group will meet with business, government, and community leaders from the Fort Collins area to discuss challenges and opportunities their community is facing, innovative programs, and approaches they have used to tackle problems, which may be adapted and used to inform ideas for our community.
