Leadership Columbia Learns About Media, Social Services, Development And Industry and State Government

The Leadership Columbia 2019 class has been busy meeting in the spring months with sessions focusing on Media, Social Services, Development & Industry, and State Government. Within the sessions, participants had an opportunity to tour local radio, TV, and newspaper outlets and discuss best practices for working with the media; participate in exercises simulating the experience of those seeking the services of local nonprofits and touring facilities; tour both legacy and newly attracted manufacturing facilities in Columbia and listen to the needs and start-up stories of local entrepreneurs; and visit the Capitol including conversations with the State Treasurer, Lieutenant Governor, Governor, and locally elected delegation. Program participants also continued to develop their understanding of leadership, including discussion of success insights and personal motivators. They also heard from a panel of local CEOs on their philosophies and approaches to leadership. The 2019 class has four sessions remaining before they will graduate on June 14 with a luncheon ceremony.
