Leadership Columbia 2018 in Full Swing

The 31 members of the Leadership Columbia Class of 2018 have been meeting since January and focusing on preparation for community leadership and exposure to significant industry areas in Columbia. The class members represent a varied mix of professional industries, such as small business, healthcare, building and construction, banking, insurance, hospitality, food services, law, financial services, higher education, manufacturing, real estate, local government, nonprofit sector, accounting, auto industry, information technology, and media.

Each session begins with an hour of leadership skills development, followed by an in-depth exploration of the particular industry area. Class members have completed their Retreat, Social Services, Education, and Healthcare sessions and will meet through June to explore the following industry areas:  Development & Industry, Growth & Economy, Media, State Government, Local Government, Arts & Recreation, and Life Sciences & Agriculture.

During the sessions, participants learn from panel discussions, presentations, tours, hands-on experience, one-on-one interaction with community leaders, and group activities.

Leadership Columbia takes community members who have demonstrated an ability and desire to assume greater community leadership responsibility and equips them with knowledge of both their leadership strengths and styles and the unique resources in the Columbia community. The program is beneficial to those seeking to deepen their community relationships and meaningful contacts, or are new to the Columbia area and want to learn what resources the community has to offer.

Co-chairs of this year’s Leadership Columbia class are Paige Harper with Landmark Bank and Nick Allen with Manor Roofing & Restoration. The Presenting Sponsor of Leadership Columbia 2018 is MU Health Care.
