Sold Out Plane of Columbia Leaders to Visit Ann Arbor This Month

The Chamber will conduct its fifth annual community Leadership Visit to learn from a peer city; this year heading to Michigan to dialogue with leaders from Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County. A total of 71 Chamber member businesses, as well as civic, nonprofit, education, and other local leaders will participate in the visit September 11-13. Upon arriving in Ann Arbor, the delegation will have an opportunity for a bus tour of the community, and hear from top leaders, including Ann Arbor’s City Administrator and Mayor. Over the course of three full days, the group will participate in discussion on the topics of growth & development, housing trends, emerging industries and local economic forecast, University of Michigan partnerships with industry, education and preparation of students for career pathways, transportation and infrastructure, poverty and equity, and community engagement/jail diversion and law enforcement. The group will receive a tour of Mcity, the University’s test facility for connected and automated vehicles, and hear about how the automated mobility and tech sectors have been a game-changer for Ann Arbor. In addition to providing opportunities for network development among attendees, the Leadership Visit trips allow for idea generation and collective visioning to benefit Columbia and Boone County.
